The ACCRA SPOKEN WORD SLAM is the biggest, brightest, most superlatively international celebration of Spoken Word in the Ghana. Spoken word artists from all over Ghana gather on this independent platform to perform and listen to spoken words and poetry. Contemporary literary titans stand alongside upcoming talents to illuminate a thrillingly electric mix of performances. The Accra Spoken Word Slam aims to provide a platform to budding spoken word artists to showcase their ability and talent. The competition is open in English and combination of English and local dialects
MODE OF COMPETITION
The competition is open to the youth between the ages of 18 years and 28 years
The competition is a bi-monthly event and participants can enter as many times as their chances of winning can permit them
All bi-monthly competition will have three distinctive rounds before winners are finally declared
All monthly winners automatically qualify for the grand finale in December
HOW TO ENTER:
Follow the directions provided in the Accra Spoken Word Slam Post to enter. Entries must be submitted by the time and date stated in the post to be eligible. Entries become the sole property of Mandem Global Entertainment Ltd. If you do not have a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account, establishing an account is free.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Entry must be entrant’s original work and must be in line with Mandem Global Entertainment’s image & not be offensive, obscene, hateful, harmful, tortious, libellous, slanderous or inappropriate or disparage Mandem Global Entertainment and its brands in any way, all as determined by Mandem Global Entertainment in its sole discretion. Entry must not defame or violate or infringe upon the rights of any person or entity. Entry must not in any way, either visibly or otherwise, contain any brand names, logos or trademarks other than those of Mandem Global Entertainment, which entrant has a limited license to use solely for purposes of this contest. Entry must not include personally identifiable information of any person other than entrant. Entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to entering, any and all releases and consents from any persons appearing in an entry that is necessary to permit the exhibition and use of the entry by Mandem Global Entertainment as set forth in these Official Rules. No photo or video entry submission, if applicable, may include anyone under the age of 18. If any minor child appears in any such entry, entrant must have permission from that child’s parent/legal guardian.
Mandem Global Entertainment reserves the right to disqualify any entry and remove any post that it determines, in its sole discretion, is not in compliance with these Official Rules.
WINNER SELECTION:
Shortlisted participants will be given the platform to showcase their craft for the competitive month in question in the introductory round.
Ten (10) qualifying participants will advance to the second stage in a competitive free style round
Five (5) qualifying participants will then move on to the third and final round of which the top three will be selected.
WINNER NOTIFICATION:
The winners of the bi-monthly competition will be announced at the live event together with the first and second runners up.
All three automatically qualify for the grand finale in December

See Call To Action post for prize details. The prize in the Monthly Edition for the first place winner is GHc1,000.00, souvenirs from our sponsors and certificate of participation. The second prize winner gets GHc 600.00, souvenirs from our sponsors and certificate of participation. The prize for third place is GHc 400.00, souvenirs from our sponsors and certificate of participation.
The first prize for the grand finale in December is the coveted trophy, a cash prize of GHc 5,000, souvenirs from sponsors, one year management contract. The second prize is a cash prize of GHc 3,000, souvenirs from sponsors, 6 months management contract. The third prize is a cash prize of GHc 1,500, souvenirs from sponsor. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied. Winners are responsible for all national & local taxes. Winners may not substitute, assign or transfer prize, but Mandem Global Entertainment reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value. All prize details are at Mandem Global Entertainment’s sole discretion.
GRANT OF RIGHTS:
By submitting an entry/participating, each entrant/participant grants to Mandem Global Entertainment and its licensees, successors and assigns an irrevocable, perpetual, unlimited, royalty-free, fully paid-up license to reproduce, distribute, display, exhibit, exploit, perform, edit, create derivatives of & otherwise use the entry & all elements of such entry, together with any other material, as well as the name, username, city & state of residence, voice, image and/or likeness of the entrant (including, without limitation, profile photo), in any & all media now known or hereafter devised, in any manner, in whole or in part, worldwide, without compensation or notification to, or permission from, entrant or any third party, for any purpose whatsoever, including without limitation, for purposes of advertising or trade.
